Daylight Savings Time
Daylight Savings Time will be observed March 9, 2014 at 2:00 AM. We will need to set our clocks forward 1 hour. This means we will lose an hour of sleep.
Benjamin Franklin came up with the idea in 1784 saying that we could make better use of sunshine and save on using candles.
The United States started DST to conserve energy during World War 1. It has changed a lot over the years since because it is controversial.

New Semester!
What are you going to do this new semester?
I am
It's a new semester. This semester I am at CT all day instead of half days. I like being at CT the whole time. I also have new classes too. I have Transition Planning on Tuesdays, News to you on Wednesdays, and Technology on Fridays. I like all my new classes.

Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who fought for the equal rights of people. He gave speeches, led rallies and inspired others to join his fight for civil rights. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work. We honor him on Monday, January 20th.
Valentine's Day
On February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia.
